Text : Iran, together with Turkey and Afghanistan, has been elected member of the IPHRC, headquartered in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia at the 47th meeting of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers among candidates from 18 Asian member states, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA). Three other representatives from Arab and African countries have also been elected to the IPHRC, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Morocco from Arab states and Benin, Nigeria and Niger from among African countries. The Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission (IPHRC) is an expert body with advisory capacity established by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) as one of the principal organs working independently in the area of human rights. The 47th session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers opened in Niamey on Friday 27th November as representatives of the member states met to discuss the theme of United against Terrorism for Peace and Development.
